All Star Memorabilia
For this project, a collection of memorabilia from the 1995 All Star baseball game presented quite a few challenges. The background was a tri-color mat constructed in three sections of silver, blue and red into which a diamond shaped opening was cut to display the game program. The bases were marked with small cardboard commemorative medallions mounted with archival paste. The special pennant was sewn down in the upper left corner at an angle and hand-carved silver and blue stars mounted in a scattered fashion to its right. Three ticket stubs were mounted on an archival silver backing and placed in a deep opening cut into the red section of the mat in the lower right corner. In the lower left corner was another small opening containing a commemorative card, mounted on blue matboard, picturing the stadium. To the right of that was a small diamond shaped opening cut to showcase a lovely silver medallion commemorating the game. All items were mounted using archival methods and the 1 1/2" deep frame was fitted with conservation UV glass to protect the color vibrancy of the items. The piece measured 38" x 42" and will be a fitting memorial for many years to the first All Star game played at the Texas Rangers' then new ballpark. |
