Nothing could be more exciting to a dog breeder/exhibitor than to have one of their dogs win a Best in Show at an all breed show.  This client wanted something special to commemorate the first one attained by her dog that looked classy but simple, and she provided a studio portrait of the dog rather than the actual photo taken at the event.  The custom built shadowbox is constructed of a 2-inch deep mahogany moulding with a slight slope to the face.  The show ribbon was mounted to dark blue suede matting that is acid and lignin free.  The photograph was cold mounted to acid free foam board.  An opening was cut in the top mat made of the same suede for the photo and a dark gold beaded fillet frame was used around the opening.  An additional opening was cut to showcase the ribbon mounted slightly lower on the same suede, and the bevel of the opening was painted gold.  The interior sides of the shadowbox were lined with the blue suede and a satin gold name plate (3/4” x 4 ½”) with the dog’s name engraved was mounted below the ribbon on the face of the suede mat.   The client was very pleased with the result, stating it was exactly what she had in mind.
